Joy Ride all filmed on the D800
Cool video. I saw maybe 4 or 5 shots that looked as good as what the Canon 5D2 can already do. The hospital scene had some decent shots. The thing that bothers me the most is that the massive sensor on the D800 creates an F-ton amount of noise in the low light scenes (see alley scene). This is to be expected. More megapixels equals more noise.
Too bad Nikon doesn’t have people like Vincent Laforet or Philip Bloom showing off their cameras. Judging only the final product from this camera, the D800 doesn’t really blow the 5D2 out of the water. Not even sure it moves it. From what I’ve heard it does have some nice features for the shooter over the 5D2, but that is to be expected since the 5D2 was released in 2008. It’s Canon’s move now and my guess is that whatever succeeds the 5D2, it’s going to continue being the leader for people shooting video with DSLR’s.
